LO1 Example of a music video with both narrative and performance

Image
This is an interesting case as the music video on its own is just clips of the artist performing the song and singing the lyrics. However, there is a narrative that happens in the background that shows how the Artists 'Young Thug' never showed up for the shoot, so the director needed to shoot shots without him. It constantly cuts away from clips in an unconventional way to focus on the narrative as the director talks to us in a mocking and comedic tone while making fun of the main Artist for not being there. This is an example of a narrative performance music video which uses both ideas to create a unique music video that represents the song to the fullest extent. This music video was produced by YSL and 300, It was also directed by Pomp&Clout and distributed via Youtube.

LO1 Example of a performance music video

This is an example of a performance music video by Drake, called "Laugh now cry later" which is about his success and his experience with women through the years. Unlike the previous song " Ross Capicchioni" The lyricism in this song is much more generic and  stereotypical. So the music video many shows random clips of the artists and his friends recording the song, Which is know as a performance music video.  The production company Free Joy produced the music video that was directed by Dave Meyers, the Product was then later distributed on Youtube and was featured on programmes like MTV.

This is the music video for the Joyner Lucas song " Ross Capicchioni" which is a narrative story about a real life event that  happened  in  Detroit   between  a gang member and a student. The song goes over both the gang member and the students life and what lead up to the event, with this we can delve into the mind of a murderer and what he was thinking  during  the altercation; same goes for the student while he was being killed. The music video is also all shot in a FPS to create more realism and empathy for the audience, showing the way this is a narrative structure and story. Directed by Motion Family and produced by Joyner Lucas and Lord Khep, the music video was uploaded and distributed on Youtube, where it gained over seventeen million views through the years, this was able to show the tradgedy of what happed to Ross Capicchioni.
